Approach

Emily’s therapeutic approach is warm, empathetic, and strength-based, emphasizing connection and understanding. With younger clients, Emily’s approach is engaging and creative using Play Therapy to foster self-expression by using play as communication. Open and honest collaboration with caregivers is a central component of her work with children.

Emily’s work with teens and young adults emphasizes empowerment and a harnessing of coping strategies. Using the modalities listed above, Emily helps her clients identify thought patterns and entrenched behaviours that no longer serve them, while ensuring empathy and compassion remain at the forefront of her approach. She allows clients to determine the pace of treatment but works as a guide to help them stay on track with clear direction and goals.
