EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Miriam has more than three decades of experience as a social worker, serving in an elementary school, as part of a community mental health team serving children and youth, and within a hospital’s adult in-patient psychiatry unit. She has served as a volunteer subject matter expert with the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) since 2010, and has personally written test questions for social work licensing exams used throughout the United States and Canada. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Social Work.
FOCUS
Miriam is trained in a number of evidence-based modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She has extensive experience working with individuals ages 5 and up.
Miriam employs evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as:
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
- Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)
- Solution Focused Therapy

A trusted therapist with more than 30 years’ experience, Miriam continues to be amazed and inspired by the courage and strength of her clients. A lifetime of work helping others has taught her that change is always possible, no matter how daunting it may seem. Though she takes her role as a therapist very seriously, she has the kind of easy-going attitude and approachable personality that only comes with decades of experience.
Fees
$160 per 50 minute session for individuals
Payment in the form of email transfer is due at the end of each session unless other arrangements have been made. Please note that 2 business days notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment to avoid being charged the full session fee. Some third party payment plans such as Extended Health Care Insurance and Employee/Family Assistance Programs pay partial or total coverage for counselling services. Please follow up with your benefits plan/health care provider.
