Sunita, a co-founder of Three Story Clinic, is a highly respected leader in the social work and counseling community. With a remarkable academic background, including a Master’s in Social Work, a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, and a Master’s in Business Administration, she is a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW), a Registered Clinical Counselor (RCC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS).
Having served tenures at prominent public mental health organizations like BC Children’s Hospital and Vancouver Coastal Health, Sunita brings profound insight into best practice interventions and a comprehensive understanding of both public and private mental health systems. Her hands-on experience as a clinician, social worker, program lead, and team lead has equipped her with invaluable knowledge of the inner workings of these systems.
Sunita’s extensive expertise lies in providing therapy for older youth and adults, addressing a wide range of mental health, social, and emotional issues. Recognizing the pivotal role of families in an individual’s well-being, she actively encourages family involvement in the therapeutic process. Sunita is a dedicated and compassionate therapist who firmly believes in the transformative power of therapy, even in the face of challenging circumstances. Her guiding principle is to foster change and instil hope, while always prioritizing the safety and trust of her clients throughout their therapeutic journey.
In individual therapy, Sunita draws upon evidence-based therapeutic modalities that are tailored to address her clients’ unique clinical needs. With specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she brings a high level of expertise to her work with individuals who have experienced trauma and abuse.
Understanding that families are interconnected emotional units, Sunita emphasizes the importance of involving caregivers in the treatment process. Sunita’s approach to family therapy is deeply rooted in her understanding of family systems, attachment relationships and one’s need to belong.
Passionate about working with the couples, Sunita focuses on interrupting familial patterns that impede connection, growth, and happiness in the relationship. Her approach to relationship therapy is grounded in the Gottman method of relationship therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Fees
$190 per 50 minute session for individuals
$ 230 per 50 Minute Session for Couples/Family
Payment in the form of cash, checks, or email transfer is due at the end of each session unless other arrangements have been made. Please note that 2 business days notice is required to cancel a scheduled appointment to avoid being charged the full session fee. Some third party payment plans such as Extended Health Care Insurance and Employee/Family Assistance Programs pay partial or total coverage for counselling services. Please follow up with your benefits plan/health care provider.
